Human Resource Management in Aviation Industry

Overview

Participants in this course will learn about the tasks and responsibilities of human resources departments within all the units of the civil aviation sector which are involved in aviation operations globally for sustainable growth of the civil aviation system. Participants will also learn the fundamentals and practices of modern human resource management, with an emphasis on the strategic role it plays in preserving businesses' competitive advantages. This course will cover global practices of human resource management in the following areas: human resource planning, recruitment & selection, awareness of civil aviation law framework to produce safe and efficient air transport, compensation, employee relations, and diversity management.

 

 


 


Learning Objectives

On completion of this program, you will be able to:

  • know the functions of Human Resources (HR) departments within all the units of the civil aviation sector which are involved in operations collectively at both domestic and international level.
  • carry out recruitment for the aviation industry as part of the HR team.
  • train other employees about civil aviation rules and regulations so they may advocate cultural shifts, diversity and organizational progress, at both national and international level.
  • guide employees toward long-term success and well-being, as well as to explain and link HR policies and standards to their country's requirements.

  • At least 6 months experience in Civil Aviation and/or Air Transport industry.

  • Functions of human resource department in aviation industry, encouraging employees, Business partnership, relationship management in aviation industry. Human capital management, resourcing, talent planning and management, career planning, succession planning, turnover and retention in the aviation industry. Learning & development for continuous professional development, Role & responsibility of HR in aviation industry-to fulfil the organization's commitments.
  • Recruitment, employee retention & engagement, reward, compensation and benefits, development, incentives, career growth and community support, development,  progressions,  employment legislation,  for  protecting the aviation industry characteristics, data  protection, background checks, employment rights, health and safety. Manage employment procedure, grievance, disciplinary, complying with company standards, redundancy, termination, retirement, and off - boarding.
  • Plan Recruitment, for all phases of aviation industry at national and international sector, job description, advertise, recruitment agencies, recruitment fairs, process of shortlisting applicants for aviation industry by the process of reviewing job applications and selecting the candidates, prepare Interview.
  • Selection Process, Job design, position description, forming a selection committee, recruiting, initial Screening of Candidates and In-person interviews. Assess candidate, define your requirements, check references, job offer and give candidates feedback, training, licenses, experience. Decision making to offer employment to fulfil the requirement of aviation industry. Administration for smooth running of offices, clerical tasks and projects, notify department head, payroll, security, admin, self-service portals.

  • Pre-employment checks procedures, identification of documents, references, background checks, equal opportunities monitoring, health checks, checking qualifications, criminal records checks, withdrawing a job offer, job- specific requirement related to aviation industry. General issues like minimum wage, discrimination, data protection, employment contract. Impacts of compliance. Negative Impacts- legal penalties, monetary fines, reputation damages and material loss. Positive Impacts- Company value, employee morale, business reputation in a market.
  • Company policy & standards relating to personnel, behavior, types, safety and security, aviation industry standards, psychological or material harm, types of safety controls. Maintenance of company policy & standards relating to personnel, code of conduct, safety management system, Feedback system to improve the performance of Aviation industry, types of constructive feedback, Negative feedback, positive feedback, negative feed-forward, positive feed-forward.
  • Sources of information & advice, regulatory bodies to approve and regulate civil aviation, like National Aviation Authority (NAA), European Aviation Safety Agency, Regulatory Body appointed by the Government to establish laws e.g. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), UK Regulator for Health and Safety, Department for Transport (DfT), Federal Aviation Administration, or a domestic Civil Aviation Authority, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Trade bodies and Trade unions.
