Basic Electrical & Electronics Engineering (BEEE) Lab

Undergraduate First Year Lab: Major experiments are related to verification of KCL, KVL, Superposition theorem; Determination of choke coil inductance and resistance; Determination of efficiency and regulation of single phase transformer, SC and OC test on single phase transformer; DC Machine overview, use of Multimeter; Determination of Diode characteristics; Verification of truth table.


Electrical Machines Lab

Undergraduate Lab: Major experiments are related to parallel operation of two single phase transformer, direct load test on single phase transformer; Determination of internal and external characteristics of DC shunt generator, speed control of DC motor; No load and blocked rotor test on 3-phase squirrel cage and slip ring induction motor; Determination of OC and SC characteristics of alternators; Determination of regulation and alternator using synchronous impedance method and zero power factor method; Determination of V-curves of synchronous motor; Determination of direct axis and quadrature axis reactance of alternator using slip test.


Power System Lab

Undergraduate Lab: Major experiments are related to the determination of generalized circuit constants for short, medium and long transmission lines of EHV AC transmission lines simulation panel; Study of cables, insulators and line supports used in transmission and distribution system; Stability analysis using Equal area criterion; Determination of critical clearing angle and critical clearing time; Fault analysis; Power factor improvement.

 

Measurement and Instrumentation Lab

Undergraduate Lab: Major experiments are related to the handling of CRO, multimeter, and function generator; Measurement of low, medium and high resistance; Measurement of inductance and capacitance using AC bridges (Hay's bridge, Maxwell's bridge De Sauty's bridge, Schering bridge); Calibration of single phase AC Energy meter; Power measurement by Two Wattmeter method; Transducer characteristics (RTD, Thermistor, Thermocouple, Load cell, Strain Guage, etc.).

 

Power Electronics and Drives Lab

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Lab: Major experiments are to plot the VI characteristics of different power electronics devices such as SCR, TRIAC, MOSFET, IGBT, UJT etc.; To analyze the dv/dt limitation of SCR with Snubber's circuit, Turn-OFF process of SCR with different force commutation techniques; Effect of PWM techniques on Inverter; To observe the variation in output voltage for fully controlled bridge convertor circuits under rectification and inversion mode; To observe variation in output voltage by changing duty cycle for SCR based Chopper with RL load; Power electronic application to electric machines etc. 

 

Analog & Digital Electronics Lab

Undergraduate Lab: Major experiments are related to the determination of Ripple factor and rectification efficiency of half wave and full wave rectifier with and without filter; Common emitter transistor characteristics, Wein bridge oscillator using 741 OP-AMP; Design of differential amplifier using transistor; Determination of amplification and voltage gain of two stage RC coupled amplifier; Implementation of Half Adder and Full Adder, Encoder and Decoder using Logic Gates ICs; Binary to Grey code and Excess-3 to BCD converter; Verification of Truth Table of Flip-Flop using ICs.


Computer/Software Lab

This lab is specially designed for UG & PG students to provide an environment for learning and a better understanding of the basic concepts and methods of computer programming using MATLAB & Python programming language. Also, this lab has software like HomerPro/PSpice/ DIgSILENT, etc. for R&D activities.

 

Renewable Energy Lab

This lab consists of the following components, Smart Grid Simulation Software, PQ Analysis, Phasor measurement unit, Smart Grid simulator with Real-Time Data Acquisition system and power measurement unit hardware, Renewable energy & Smart Grid Hardware Simulator, Solar Power Generation System (2KW) Grid-tie Inverter with charge controller, Wind Turbine with Charge Controller (1 KW), Battery Bank 12V, 100Ah Rating

 

Control Lab

Undergraduate Lab: Major experiments are related to the design of Lag, Lead, and Lag-Lead Compensators, Analysing the effects of P, PI, PD, PID Controller on the performance of second order system. Stepper Motor control, temperature control, etc.

 

Industrial Automation Lab

It is important to expose students and provide hands-on experience in the area of automation which will make them Industry ready professionals. In this laboratory, the students will learn different types of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), network protocols, ladder logic programming, and integration of sensors & loads with the PLC. After working on the set-ups in the proposed automation lab, the students will be able to write ladder logic programs for PLCs, run and troubleshoot various setups & experiments in the area of automation.


 

 

Microprocessor & Embedded Systems Lab

Undergraduate Lab: The major components of this lab are 8085, 8086, 8051, Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The experiments are related to assembly-level language programming to perform the arithmetical and logical operations in 8085 and 8086. In this lab, an IoT development kit is provided to the students to design IoT applications by Interfacing Wired/Wireless communication, actuators, sensors, camera, display, and keyboard to Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
